אהיה אשר אהיה
EHYEH ASHER EHYEH
I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE Ex 3:14

In Christian interpretations the Greek words in the NT (e.g. John 6:35)
ἐγώ εἰμι egō eimi I AM’ are connected with  Ex 3:14 although those
words do not even exist in the Hebrew text there. In Ex 3:14 it reads
אהיה אשר אהיה EHYEH ASHER EHYEH ’I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE’.

ἐγώ εἰμι egō eimi ’I AM’ is taken from the Greek translation of the OT,
the Septuagint (LXX).

There is a big difference in saying ’I AM’ or saying ’I WILL BE’.

אהיה EHYEH in the Hebrew text translates ’I WILL BE’ that is
clearly to be seen in Ex 3:12:
כִּי-אֶהְיֶה עִמָּך ’Certainly I WILL BE [אֶהְיֶה EHYEH] with thee’
and
in  Ex 4:12:
וְאָנֹכִי אֶהְיֶה עִם-פִּיךָ ’and I WILL BE [אֶהְיֶה EHYEH] with thy mouth’
and
in Deut 31:23:
כִּי-אֶהְיֶה עִמָּך ’And I WILL BE [אֶהְיֶה EHYEHwith thee’

אהיה אשר אהיה EHYEH ASHER EHYEH in (Ex 3:14) is in future tense meaning
’I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE’.

When Yeshua says אֲנִי הוּא ANI HU ’I [am*] HE’ (e.g. John 4:26),
does He state that HE is the one God who spake unto Moshe saying
”I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE”.

*(’To be’ always omits in Hebrew in present tense. There is never the verb
“to be” in Hebrew in the present tense as it is in English.)

אהיה EHYEH always points forwards.  This was fulfilled in Yeshua. And that
is why He can say אֲנִי הוּא ANI HU ’I [am] HE’. ”For Messiah is the goal
of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth” (Rom 10:4).
The introduction and teaching of the Torah and of the whole TaNaKh points
to Yeshua and the fulfillment of all of them is in Him.

Rom 10:4 is deliberately translated deceivingly ”Messiah is the end of the law”.
The word τέλος TELOS there means also ’goal’ and ’terminal’. The mission
of the Torah (teaching, introduction) is to lead one to the Messiah and there
leads also this word EHYEH.

Christian translators do commonly use the Greek Septuagint as the source of
translation to different languages to let the fact faint away that Yeshua is the
one God (Jude 4).  The Hebrew text shows that Yeshua is not only a lesser God,
the second person of the Trinity but that He is God, Yahweh (1Chor 12:3).
